Biography
Carl Yard was born on the tiny Caribbean island Barbados and immigrated to the USA to pursue computer studies. All of this changed when Carl walked into Stitches comedy club in Boston on a night out with some friends. "From the time I was a kid back in Barbados I always knew I wanted to perform/entertain in some capacity, I use to make up and sing calypso songs for my sisters and their friends. There is something about being in front a crowd that excites me." Carl got his start in comedy at Stitches Comedy in Boston. 'My first time on stage I was so scared and so full of energy that I had a great set! The second time on stage I was so confident and so full of my self that I bit the big one." Carl’s talents have now taken him to places and stages he only dreamed of; in 1999 Carl was the opening act for Aretha Franklin on her New England tour. Carl has also been featured on HBO and Comedy Central.
Carl has been a featured performer at the Montreal Comedy Festival and The Boston Comedy festival. Carl Yard's style of comedy can be described as explosive and captivating with his Bajan accent adding to his uniqueness, leaving audiences screaming for more. "Being from the Caribbean I always worried if the audience would understand or accept me". When you see Carl you will soon realize that his bajan accent is definitely not a hindrance to his act but has become his comedy signature.
Carl is now touring and filming a movie with The Roadkill Comedy Crew.
